So you have a new camera and want to know your way around it? This is the course for you.

Manchester Photographic School will help you develop your skill and knowledge across a range of photographic techniques.

With hands-on experience you will feel in control of your camera and gain a good understanding of photography.

Timetable:

Please arrive for 9.50 am for a 10 am start.

Time Course Activity Learning Outcomes
10am Introduction to Manchester Photographic
10.15am – 12.15pm Getting to know camera features and using them: Options for: Focus/ISO/Shutter/Aperture/ White Balance This is an opportunity for you to ask questions about your camera and set yourself the task of using those features you have never used.
12.15am – 12.45pm Lunch
12.45pm – 2.30pm Location Shooting – practical work outdoors to record iconic images of Manchester. Choosing a brief: architectural, people or sequential images.
2.30pm – 3.00pm Lessons from location shooting and downloading images to computer. Choose 3 of your best images and 1 blooper….
3.00pm– 3.40pm Looking over the photographs taken during the day. Discussing image resolution and file formats.
3.40pm – 4.00pm Considering the next steps Suggestions for your progression.

You Will Need

  • Your camera fully charged;
  • An empty memory card;
  • Suitable clothes for outdoor photography;
  • A packed lunch or funds for purchasing a meal;
  • Please notify the staff about medical conditions.

Learners will be supported with guidance and relevant factual information. This course serves as a pathway for further developing your photographic skills.
