‘Set In Stone’ – A Photographic Exhibition By Ian Tilton
31st May until 31th July 2012
Ever since the press conference last year, anticipation for The Stone Roses gigs has been incredible. As a build up to the first set of gigs at Heaton Park at the end of June 2012, we’re pleased to be hosting an exhibition of Stone Roses photographs ~ ‘Set In Stone’. This special collection of many unseen Stone Roses pictures, taken by photographer Ian Tilton, will be exhibited and be for sale from 31st May until 31th July 2012.
Ian Tilton has captured The Stone Roses in his lens more than any other photographer ~ ranging from the first time in his studio in Chorlton, Manchester in November 1987 right up until their last gig with the original line up in June 1990 at Glasgow Green ~ just a few days after the notorious Spike Island gig. For almost two years, Ian was their exclusive photographer. Ian not only championed the Roses in their early days, he was the first to tour with and photograph many iconic bands on their rise to fame, including Nirvana, Guns N Roses the Happy Mondays, James and the Charlatans.
‘Set In Stone’ will also complement the publication of ‘Set in Stone’ ~ Ian Tilton’s Photographs of the Rise of The Stone Roses. This book, which will be published by Omnibus in the Summer, and will feature well over 400 photographs of the Stone Roses, including many previously unseen rarities. ‘Set in Stone’ will also see Ian reminiscing about his time spent with the band, revealing the stories behind the pictures.
