West Meets West

amir-news

Manchester based photographer Amir Shah will be exhibiting a collection of his work for the first time at Manchester Photographic Gallery, Tariff Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter 29th April until 7th May.

With 16 years of experience working within the creative industry Amir’s passion for photography finally took centre stage with the launch of his studio a few years back.

Not one to be pigeonholed, Amir fast become Manchester’s go-to photographer for all occasions and his notoriety is spreading fast, requests for his creative camera skills all over the country covering many styles and sectors.

This exhibition examines a thought provoking mix of his recent work with some classic older images. This multifaceted showcase combines high-end mainstream fashion photography with a vibrant, intimate selection of Asian Wedding creative material.

“My work doesn’t begin & end with me taking pictures, I digitally process and print them, using the latest cutting-edge technology – all the pictures in this exhibition is my work from start to finish.” – Amir Shah

“Key to the finely tuned and intuitive way in which Amir chooses to work as a photographer is his ability to identify those small characteristics and facets of a personality which make us unique. Amir’s well crafted mix of calm and understated perfectionism behind the lens puts this photographer in an enviable position, catching those elusive qualities that most will miss.”

Howard Marks

As possibly the world’s most notorious former drug smuggler, Howard Marks already had a high profile.

But the amiable Welshman tells us that since his life story hit the big screen last year, with Rhys Ifans memorably playing the man known as Mr Nice, things have got even more hectic.

Needless to say, when he headed down to Manchester Photographic Gallery for the launch of our flamboyant exhibition by his pal Will WIlkinson, Mr Nice was besieged by fans.
